2N Installation — Darwin & the Northern Territory

2N treats the intercom as a network device first — which is exactly what modern building entry wants to be. The Czech manufacturer, part of the Axis family, is a world leader in IP and SIP intercoms: door stations that call a resident's cell phone wherever in the world they happen to be, tenant directories a strata council can update without booking a service call, and entry that integrates with access control and elevators instead of living awkwardly beside them. For Victoria's newer condo towers — and older buildings ready to leave the handset era — 2N is the modern answer.

Why We Install 2N

IP done properly, on open standards

Because 2N speaks the open SIP standard rather than a proprietary dialect, its door stations connect cleanly to phone systems, access platforms and video management rather than demanding their own island. That openness protects the building's investment: the entry system cooperates with whatever comes next.

Axis-family engineering

2N sits inside the Axis family — one of the most respected names in network video — and it shows in the discipline of the products: solid metal door stations, serious attention to firmware and security updates, and a manufacturer with the scale to still be here in fifteen years.

Mobile answering as the default, not a bolt-on

The feature residents actually use is answering the front door from a cell phone — at work, in the garden, or three time zones away. 2N built its system around that reality, and buildings feel the difference: fewer missed deliveries, fewer buzzed-in strangers, no wall handset gathering dust.

Deploying 2N in Territory Conditions

Good equipment still fails when it's installed like this is Melbourne. How we put 2N systems in up here:

Entry stations installed for wet coastal duty

An IP door station is a computer living outdoors, so we install it like one: sheltered or hooded mounting on rain-lashed elevations, sealed glands on every cable entry, and network connections terminated and protected so eight months of damp never reaches the electronics.

Strata modernizations without in-suite disruption

Because entry calls can go straight to residents' phones, a 2N upgrade in an older building often needs no in-suite work at all — a major point for councils weighing resident disruption. We handle directory setup, resident onboarding notices, and a managed cutover so the old enterphone works until the moment the new one takes over.

Entry, doors and elevators designed as one system

Where a building wants entry tied to access control or elevator floor release, we design it as one coherent system from the start — one directory, one credential logic, one point of management for the council — rather than bolting systems together and hoping they stay friends.

Where 2N Fits Best

New condo towers and modern multi-tenant buildings

Ground-up entry systems for new construction and recent buildings — video door stations, cell-phone answering, self-managed directories, and integration with the building's access control specified from day one.

Enterphone modernization with app answering

For older stratas whose residents want to answer the door from anywhere, a 2N replacement delivers the biggest visible upgrade an entry budget can buy — often with no work inside any suite.

Offices and mixed-use entries

Business entries where the door station rings reception, a phone system or a cell phone — after-hours deliveries answered from home, visitors vetted on video, and doors released remotely with a tap.

Great White Security is product-agnostic — we install and service 2N systems where they're the right fit for the site, and recommend alternatives where they're not.

2N Questions

Do residents need anything installed in their suites?
Usually not — that is much of the appeal. Entry calls route to residents' cell phones through an app, so most 2N upgrades involve the lobby, the network and the door hardware, with nothing drilled inside suites. Buildings that want a physical answering station in some suites can have that too.
What about residents who don't use a smartphone?
We design for them explicitly. Options include an in-suite answering station, routing entry calls to an ordinary telephone line, or a mix across the building. No council should accept a system that strands its least technical residents, and we won't install one that does.
The system runs on our network — what happens if the internet goes down?
The door station and local answering stations sit on the building's own network, so local functions are designed to survive an internet outage; it is off-site cell-phone answering that depends on the connection. We design the network side deliberately — including how the building recovers — rather than treating it as someone else's problem.
Can I let a delivery in when I'm not home?
Yes — the everyday win. The door station calls your cell phone, you see and speak with the courier, and release the door if you choose. Several buildings we work with cite disappearing parcel pileups as the single change residents noticed first.
